I've never seen granite suck in wine and I have had the opportunity to be around granite countertops ... I do know our corian top is a pain in the a$$. I have to keep it oiled to keep it shiny, the scratches show up almost immediately and while they can be buffed out - it's a pain in the a$$. Granite scratches too - but not as easily. If one is careful with both kinds - I know you will have better looking counters. Thing is - resale wise - Granite is "da bomb" and everyone wants them. A builder deal is a lot better than having them added afterwards. Of course it is all a personal thing. Adam may hate Granite and Corian!
