Since when!  Alcohol has been used in medicine for hundreds of years.

Also, if you look in the "United States Pharmacopoeia"
(http://www.usp.org/USPNF/pf/2703/c00.html) you will find several references
to various diferent forms and preperations of alcohol, you will find NO
references to sugar except for one or two sugar free oral solutions and a
few documents talking about a patients blood sugar levels.
