I agree - there's a lot of talk about that on forums and usually you
have to have participated in an actual tracked racing event (i.e., not
just a track day) to get hit, but you're right.  It's disingenuous.

If you ever post pics, fuzz out your license plate so that they can't
tie your car to your online forum name.  Better safe than lawyered.
