they used to get it from some sort of animal, I forget, but it was
hard to get a stable dose so these days (post WW2 or so)  it's purely
synthetic. They understand the chemistry but not the inheritance (my
sister is hyper, I was hypo, several other peope in the family have
one or the other) or why I got better, which is pretty rare.
