Or maybe, he did what he did because once over there, he felt that the
people there needed the support of the American Troops.

I've heard stories from many soldiers along those lines. They don't mind
going back because there are people that need their help.

I think her point is that she feels as though her son bought into Bush's
lies (many Americans did, most of them still do). Her son did what he
thought was right based on the lies the Bush administration used to
justify the war. Had she or her son been aware of the truth her son may
not have re-enlisted. And therefore would probably be alive today.

I haven't paid much attention to the whole situation but that is what I
got out of what little I have heard or read.

It does seem to me as though she is expanding her opinions and
statements and that is taking away from what I perceived as the original
message.

However, what does she really expect to accomplish by meeting Bush?
It's a silly pursuit that will accomplish nothing. She can say nothing
to change Bush's mind, the death of her son or her present situation.
Bush isn't going to be shamed into meeting with her so what is she
hoping to accomplish?

If not for setting a bad precedent (big if), I think Bush should meet
with her. Five minutes no cameras. Sorry your son died, but those
things happen in war. Then a few minutes of administration
justification for the actions in Iraq. Let her say her piece and leave.
Then what? The whole thing goes away. She gets on the news talk shows
for 3 days saying Bush fed me the same crap he's been feeding everyone.
No news there and the whole thing goes away.

It might be prudent to have a White House camera man there so that if
she makes bogus claims there is documentation of what really happened.
