Gruss, you're ranting. You know I'm no Bush fan, but in all truth, his
reaction time was irrelevant. The reaction time of the FDNY, NTSB, Air
National Guard, etc. THOSE were critical. None of them were dependent
on the President to move them to action. They are all empowered to
deal with emergency situations without waiting for some presidential
blessing.

Keep in mind that when the first plane hit, it wasn't even known that
it was a terrorist attack. And even if it was known, the President
jumping up immediately wouldn't have changed anything because there
was no role for him to play at that moment. The various military and
emergency services were all the key decision makers at that moment.

Was he sitting there with a stunned look on his face? Yes. Did he have
any immediate role to play in dealing with the situation? Not to my
knowledge.

If you have knowledge of specific operational procedures that the
President should have taken to make any difference, please share.
