I tend to be very pro-active myself (over-bearingly so at times) and I
tend to like someone who is willing to take action immediately.  I do
however think it is ok to get the facts first. Look at the options
etc... and in this case I see 7 minutes as a reasonable time frame under
the circumstances. 

I'd of preferred for him to excuse himself and get on with business
without the cameras but that's not what happened.

Now if someone said there are missiles heading towards NY, DC, LA,
etc...  I would want a faster reaction time. The fact is when the first
plane hit we did not know what was going on.  It took a few minutes to
gather the facts and make an educated assumption as to what was
happening.

You're probably right - I guess we all have different ideas of
leadership.

I want my leader to be out of his chair and directing immediately upon
notice of a crisis.  It's what I do, it's what I expect my people to
do, and it's what every colleague I know does.

But I do recognize that there are other types of people.
