I think its an unwritten law somewhere that this quote must be dusted off when discussing the Patriot Act. Which is not to say I don't agree with it.....
I"m on the liberty side of the fence too. But I admit that doing so pretty much guarantees that another terrorist attack will take place, and hundreds or thousands of people will pay the ultimate price for my liberty. As a politician, of course, you can't come out and say that! Which is why so many congressmen who were wary of the Patriot Act ultimately had little political choice but to vote for it. Our system is set up so that, if you want to do harm to others, you can do it.
