I think that right now it looks like an utter failure of a relief effort. I know the US wouldn't accept help from world aid organisations, but maybe they should ask for it.
It's crazy what is going on, and how this situation has spiraled out of control. I would never expect this in the US. In some small third world country yes, but not the US. Looting in a disaster is a fact, as long as the area has poor people, and what city doesn't, there will be looting.As warring gang factions get together, there's going to be shooting. What surprises me too is the extent of the poverty that we see now existed in New Orleans.
