Well..the ending segment was equally interested. Did anyone know there was a meeting of the 138 most influential islamic leaders of the world at which they publicly denounced terrorism and extremism and made plans of actions on how to combat what they called a scourge on their religion?
That the King of Jordan issued what has become known as the Amman decree that also renounces terrorism and extremists and states for all that only recognised clergy can ever issue a fatwah or a religious decree? These things are , for whatever reason, not publicised by popular Western media, but they are known in Asia, the Middle East and other parts of the world. But they tie in so very closely with the whole 'War on Terror' to see what these countries are doing, what Muslims are doing to fight the cancer eating away at their socieites. The Queen of Jordan (have you seen the Queen of Jordan? She has a sophisticated beauty about her that is breathtaking) stated that to fight extremism we need Education and oppurtunity. She said Extremism takes over where other religious avenues seem to have failed a people. Isolation, ignorance and having no oppurtunity are the real factors that breed Extremists and combating those elements is where the real War on Terror lies (my words for interpretation). They even touched on global warming, and targeted the US which did not sign any Environmental treaties. Apparently the energy storage and distribution in the US is woefully inefficient, and by simply implementing improvements in these areas a lot of America's energy problems could be solved within a year without building new power plants! It really was amazing stuff. Over a million people in Latin America use solar panels to power fridges lights and other appliances in their homes with a little solar system on their roofs. Why not 2 million? why not a billion worldwide? The issue of The Private Sector in the US seeing any sort of Environmental safeguards as a threat to their business, and the US standpoint of it being impossible to continue to be rich and to expand without simply having to burn more fossil fules was also brought up. Clinton suggested that it requires a shift in the thinking of the Private Sector and an education as to how renewable energy can be even more profitable to them (Although how to convince oil rich party donators of that I don't know). I am definintely going to try to hunt down a transcript, and mark the next time this shows to watch it again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Find out how CFTicket can increase your company's customer support efficiency by 100% http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=49 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:174281 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
