Larry,
Yes, there are differences in versions. However, the versions which
matter the most are the original, written in Hebrew and Greek. It takes a
more learned scholar than I to determine which of the English translations
are the most correct.
The faith that you have should tell you which version to believe. If
you don't have any faith, it doesn't matter anyway, does it? Just because
somebody misspells a word in a text, or some people believe that one version
is more important that the other, doesn't make the whole thing wrong.
I understand that there are instances where translations from the
original text have introduced differing points-of-view. For example, a
grasshopper does in fact have four legs. It's also got six legs. Neither
statement is incorrect.
However, you're bringing up issues which bear no significance to my
argument. The number of legs a grasshopper has as is written in the Bible
is not important to my argument. Furthermore, it may have changed since
those days, how would you or I know?
I hear there's a ton of stuff out there that explains the supposed
inaccuracies in the Bible. You should look it up if that's all that's
keeping you from believing.

Um which version Matthew? There are significant translational
differences between the accepted Roman Catholic versions, the Vulgate,
the latinate, the King James version, or various other versions since
the early 5th centuries.
If you cite the King James version, for an example, then explain how
Moses is described as horned in exodus. It could be a translational
error - from haloed. But that cannot be the case if biblical
inerrancy is paramount.
How many legs to grasshoppers have? Leviticus 11:21-23 lists things
with four legs. Among the list are locust, beetle (cricket in some
translations), and grasshopper. Last I looked grasshoppers have 6, as
do beetles and crickets.
The point is that biblical inerrancy is dangerous and moreso when
applied to the biological sciences.
