Health care is a benefit that I get as part of working who I work for... as is dental care, a decent salary, a 401k and more. Am I rich? By *no* stretch of the imagination. Do I make enough to be comfortable? Not quite, but I've got salary negotiations coming up.
For the record, "rich" by the democrat's political machine includes the middle class... last I looked anyone making over $35k was included in that group, but that number may have changed. I'd personally rather see lower taxes and more people off the street and off the government dole. If you rely on a politician for your money you will, some day, loose. No if's and's or but's about it. As an excellent example of that I will cite the City of Buffalo. This city is very well known for going to Albany asking for hand-outs and additional funding for schools and government projects. This year, thanks to the events in September, the City of Buffalo is staring a $97,000,000+ deficit square in the face. They do not have the money to pay city employees, firefighters, police officers... all because they thought, "Yeah, sure the money'll come in." The entire town council (more bloated politicos that can't find their asses with both hands and a magnifying glass) got brand new Ford Explorers... that, sir, is *my* definition of "making the rich richer". Buffalo City Schools is in just as much hot water. The school system is $27,000,000 in the hole. They had to pink-slip 400+ teachers. How'd they get there? Simple, they voted for the same empty suit with a hand out and got screwed royally. </cf_soapbox> What's worse is the fact that the police and fire unions are running ads beating up the city government for the rotating closings. School kids are protesting in the streets. It's the people's fault because the town council hasn't changed faces in almost a decade. If the faces of government do not change then the way a government is run will not change. You don't like the face of politics today? Funny, did you vote in the last local election? Did you vote in the election before that? The sad answer is that voter turnout wins elections, not votes... considering on average the voter turnout is around 20-30% of the eligible population. </cf_soapbox> Now off for some lunch and back to work Hatton > -----Original Message----- > From: Benjamin Falloon [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Thursday, December 13, 2001 12:06 PM > To: CF-Community > Subject: Re: Ouch > > > well... how do you feel out your tax dollars being spent of the > militarisation of space instead of health care? > > Benjamin > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "C.
