Oh - I'm almost certain that was Zod. I don't know what the hell the "liquid rising" effect was about... but I think that was Zod. Kevin was talking about the fact that the actor that played Zod in the "Superman 2" movie now does the voice of Jor El for "Smallville" - not that the two characters were the same person in the show.
