There are actually 14 episodes in the series - but Fox only televised 12. The other two are available on the (very reasonably priced) "Firefly" box set. There are definitely more stories written - they probably won't be made into actual TV shows. The "buffer" between the end of the TV series and the movie was made into a three-issue comic published by Dark Horse. It's worth picking if want the "whole story". I would expect more print material to come out as foundational material to any future movies.
