well, here is my issue. If you are going to take the position that even potential life is sacred -- that the three-day-old embryo is human -- then what about all those unfertilized eggs? What about sperm that do not impregnate anyone? Masturbation would become murder.
Clearnly that's absurd. So is saying that an eight and a half month old fetus is not alive. If anyone needs to be convinced of the latter, Both my children were born through induced labor at that stage (I don't do pregnancy well and it had reached the point where the risk to me was large and the risk to them very minor). No special measures were needed. Labor was induced, they were born. So there is a point in there somewhere where a person becomes alive.
