I think those 'social oppurtunities' may be what parents that homeschool want to keep their children from?
Personally I would prefer to send my kid to a good Private school and supplement whatever they are taught/learn with my own help and moral compass during our time together. I never studied anything relating to be a teacher nor do I have all the experience of a 24/7 teacher.
