My own take is that home schooling, private schooling or going to a
public school do not matter in and of themselves. Rather its the
parents that make a difference. If the parents are involved then
despite the school, or in addition to it the kid will succeed. If the
parents treat the school as a day warehouse for the kid, and are
disconnected with him or her, then the quality of the school may be
irrelevant. It doing stuff like sitting down with the kid and going
over the homework every day, or helping him or her out with a school
project or other things that keep the parent involved in the kid's
education that may be the critical factors.
