I wasn't really into death metal until after my divorce, but I've gotten
into some of the melodic death bands (Opeth, Arch Enemy, Mercenary)

And some of the more classic blast beat stuff like Entombed.

My taste run the gamut from death metal to industrial, to classical to
electronica to *some* old country

I think I have have fallen into the same thing. I used to love country, but
most of it now is so pre-packaged that's it's not fun or original anymore.
And I used to love to listen to James Taylor but having heard one of his
albums (I think it's a greatest hits album) all the way through makes me
think that he's the biggest wimp in the world. That music just drives me
crazy and makes me want to stomp on his face and scream.

Funny, my taste have gotten more aggressive as I've gotten older.
Haven't gotten past my thing for psychedelic classic rock.
