You were expecting a "uniter" pick??? Gruss....where's yer cynicism man?

The Miers debacle taught Bush two lessons: 1) gotta pick someone qualified 
and 2) that someone better be a darling of the conservatives. These court 
nominations are a weird sort of scenario anyway. I mean, you expect a 
conservative prez to select someone he thinks is a conservative judge....and 
vice versa. So that wasn't a surprise.

Really, the only thing you can hope for is that once this person dons the 
supreme court robes, they hold their oath in esteem and remove any previous 
political shackles that may have influenced a proper interpretation of the 
law. To that end, integrity and a blind devotion to the "law" is really all 
you can use to truly ascertain whether someone is fit to be a SC justice.
