Did you get proof the investigator was who they say they were? Were they from your town? You should have not talked on the phone and had him come out to talk face to face. I hesitate everytime a "cop" calls my phone because i remember back when i was a kid there were crooks pretending to take donations for the FOP. It was all a scam so just becareful. Hopefully you didn't give any important info out to the guy.
I think it would be well within your rights to say i am more then willing to talk to you but i need some sort of ability to verify you are who you say you are.
