They probably do weigh more than a car of equal size. But what is the average weight of a vehicle on the road today? I would venture to say hybrids weigh less than the average, could be wrong.
Hybrid with batteries compared to SUV, Pick-up truck? At least in Northern California I would say 60% or more of the vehicles on the road fall into the SUV, Truck or large sedan category.
