The last time I ordered liver and onions, it turned into an ordeal:

Me: I'd like the liver and onions.
Waitress: Seriously, are you ready to order?
Me: Yes. I'd like the liver and onions.
W: Ha, ha. Really, what would you like?
Me: I want the damn liver. Bring me liver. With onions. And mashed
potatoes.
W: Are you serious?
Me: Am I not allowed to have liver and onions? Because if not, I'll go
somewhere else....

Finally, she agreed to bring me liver and onions. A bit overdone, but
it was what I wanted at the time.
