The idea was simply not to run up the score on the opposing team. They were already up by 30, the game was nearly over...scoring another touchdown would have simply rubbed salt in the other teams wounds.
So...that's the idea, he was being "classy" by not running up the score. There is some debate though....is it more degrading to lose by another touchdown, or have the other team have to lay down in order for you to stop them? > > ALLLLL RIGHT! That's the attitude.
