Ok, i'm all over this.....

My buddy and I discuss past sports' teams, players, and games constantly.
The 1997 football season? Constantly. Elway finally breaks through. The
1988 superbowl? All the time. Is it just coincidence that you picked two
Denver super bowls? Hmmm....

What makes that team "art"? They didn't play the game at some ridiculously
high level for an extended period of time. How artful was their previous
spanking (10-0 i think it was) to the very same Russian team they beat to
advance to the gold medal game?

What makes that team one for the ages is the circumstances that surrounded
them. But that doesn't make it art, does it?

Sports only approaches "art", in my opinion, when it is played at a
ridiculously high level in such a way that amazing athletes are performing
astonishing feets of eloquence that just cause you to gape with awe. Like
the 1984 Orange Bowl, or the 1992 Duke/Kentucky semi-final.

Sports is so much more fun than art because it's beautiful, AND
entertaining.
