I think anyone should have the right to strike at any time, but I think one of the problems with unions in general is that a worker almost cannot be fired. I've never been a union member, so I don't know for sure, but I hear of cases where a worker continually goofs off but the company is powerless to fire that worker because of union and/or legal pressure.
