>You are defining religion as some of the stricter sects (evangelicals, >catholics) want it defined, but not as I or "my people" practice. >
I have to disagree with including Catholics with evangelicals on this. I was taught in a Roman Catholic seminary that nothing in the MODERN Roman religion was at odds with anything we would study in science. The HISTORICAL Roman religion was guilty of persecuting scientists and thinkers who disagreed with Roman "science." This was unfortunate. That is why the Vatican only comments on the Morality of science and technology, not the process of science. I cannot comment on the Eastern and Orthodox Catholic's position. I was also taught, at the same seminary, that Darwin's theory was the best explanation for the process of us becoming human. The teacher made light of ID by saying God must have had a big sense of humor. Look at how we turned out. Nothing I have learned as a Geology student was ever at odds with my Roman faith. I was always told by my spiritual advisors to learn the science, but consider the moral implications before applying said science.
