Does anyone hike on this list? I am wondering what is the most effective item to use for water purification?
I am planning a hiking trip this spring and plan on staying a few days in the mountains and like to carry little as possible. So I am looking at doing water purification rather than carrying multiple bottles of water. I tried some iodine tablets on rain water but the water was still brownish (rust type color) and smelled heavily of iodine. There is a water filter pump I found for about $60 that indicates it will filter up to 200 gallons of water. Just wondering other peoples take on it.
