Unless i'm mistaken, McDonald's offers decent salaries, a safe work 
environment, promotional oppurtunities, etc....

Micky D's competes with Wendys, Burger King, etc, for the same workers. 
Competition for these workers requires the addition of incentives. A company 
which refuses to offer these benefits risks employing a force of 
unmotivated, unhappy workers...making their business a less desirable place 
for the consumer, which in turn hurts their bottom line......

Long story short: free market competition compels the companies to address 
the social concerns of their workers.
