We have not yet seen any policies. They have nothing online, so we
would probably have to visit the office to get a copy.

Her work (Dairy Queen) was the same way. The owner just said it needed
to be covered or removed. He was satisfied with just putting a small
round bandage over it. It was almost invisible.

We will probably just give in unless my wife gives the superintendant an
earful (she's quite good at that) but I hate for my daughter to lose her
$70 piercing because of this.

Thanks

Mike,

What do the official school policies say about piercings? I went to a
catholic school my entire life and piercings in any other place but the
ears was not allowed. In fact, guys couldn't have piercings even in
their ears.
That was based on a policy that was documented, etc. However, I had
three piercings which I took out when I walked in to school and put in
when I walked out. When I had initially gotten the 3rd one I was a
sophomore and had to keep it in for 6 weeks or so. To get "around" the
policy I put a small Band-Aid on it which looked ridiculous but got me
around the policy as the policy said "visible" in the wording. Anyway, I
would first check the policy at her school and then just have her cover
it up if she insists that the hassle is worth it.

A funny story about my earrings... I played football since I was about
10 and in high school it was a "dress down day" which meant guys could
wear their earrings except we could not wear them under our helmets on
the practice field. Our coach was a stickler about it too... to
demonstrate why he insisted on no earrings he promptly pulled my helmet
off after noticing I had not taken my earring out. The earring ripped my
ear a little and he said "now imagine if that happened in a game and
you... you might be done for the game, cost us a penalty (delay of game)
or even worse, done some serious damage to your ear/head". Had I not
been in the wrong I would have been pissed but he had a point... anyway,
good luck with your situation.
