Hey all. I recently got a new food processor and I think a couple people here have gotten new dishwashers. What are people's favorite kitchen gadgets?
The food processor is a KitchenAid 760. It's got a main workbowl that holds 12 cups. 12 cups!!!! The older model I had been looking at only did 11! I would be adrift in a sea of unprocessed foodstuffs without that extra cup! Actually, I was reticent to get the newer model since the one I wanted was the one I saw on Good Eats and Iron Chef America. I mean seriously, who doesn't want any gadget used by Alton Brown? And from what I've read about the new Cuisinart processors, newer isn't always better. But after scanning some forums, I came across some posts by a KitchenAid rep that they had not only discontinued the older models but they also weren't producing new blades and attachements for them. So that did it. The new model was for me. I opted for the 760 model over the 750 because it came with a few more accessories thrown in. It includes a 10 cup secondary work bowl and a little 4 cup bowl for chopping. It also has a juicer attachement which I have yet to use. I've made a few things with it so far: shrimp toast (I'll stick with the restaurant for that), asian slaw, and salmon cakes with a cilantro caper mayo dressing.
