My kid has been doing a thing like that in the mall for a while. They have
an overhead projector that projects images on the floor, which is like a
giant touchpad. The kids run around on it interacting with the images that
are projected. There's a soccer game (score a goal!), a frozen puddle (crack
the ice!), a plate of popcorn (stomp on it to make it pop!), air hockey
(score a goal!), a car race (make the cars run into each other!), etc. He
could do it for hours if we'd let him. Thankfully, we're only ever in the
mall at Xmas when we have specific items we have to buy.
