For all of Jimmy Carter's strengths as an ex-president, national
security is not what I remember him for.

No, it is so easy to throw out a word like racism, and expect everyone
on the recieving end to turn into a quivering mass of apologies. Not
going to happen.

This is not racial. It has elements of race, culture, politics,
geo-politics, religion, but I see it as more pragmatic and realistic.

Is it racist that I don't want the goverenments of China and Cuba and
Venueluala to run those ports? Or Mexico? Or Serbia? No. Those are
political boundaries.

Is it racist that I don't want a company who is directly owned by a
country who, in the recent past, has been tied to those we now see as
islamo-fascists? No. That is pragmatic.

Is it racist to wonder if the UAE has our best interests at heart? No.
That is realistic.

Is it racist to wonder if the UAE may be moved by the politics of
their neighborhood? No. As an example, see the UAE government's
handling of the cartoon controversy.

Is it racist to wonder if some of the people who run this company lean
more towards our enemies than to ourselves?

Is it racist to wonder if any of the people who run this company
believe the religious arguments of our enemies?

Is it racist that Libya does not allow a company owned by the American
goverment to service their military?

Is it racist that China does not allow foriegn companies to be
majority stakeholders in ANY Chinese company?

It isn't racism. For me it is common sense. I am more likely to give
the keys to my apartment to my childhood best friend, rather than to
the guy from Pakistan I met last week and have been playing xBox with
every night.

(On the other hand, I never let my friends ask my sister out. I
preferred for her to date strangers, since they might have been
decent, and I knew my friends were jerks.)
