That's where I am - I don't need the PVR (the cable box does that) and just
want to play AVIs and MPEGs on the big TV - that's why the Avel Link is so
great.

It's only $250, plays nearly everything you throw at it from a Network
Source, a DVD or a USB drive and does it all in 1080i.  Really neat.  ;^)

I may go with a PC in the new family room (so we can play games down there
as well) but I'll probably just get another Avel Player.

As for Network storage the ReadyNAS I got (SATA drives) has been working
beautifully.  The built-in media server is excellent and speed, even over my
100 Mb connection is great even with HD sources.
