The judge's order included "temporary" alimony. It's been temporary
for 5 years now.
I researched what would be involved in filing the papers when we were
in Dallas and it costs me $40 to get a _copy_ (a $0.05 photocopy) of
the paper that I would need to fill out to file anything.

You're absolutely right. There was $300/mo in temporary alimony and
then a little while back they eliminated the temporary alimony and
simultaneously increased both the arrearage amount, _and_ the amount
per month for the children. The remaining $1600/mo is supposed to be
for my 3 kids. Never once did I ever spend $1400/mo on those kids
(original amount) until the ex kicked me out of the house and filed
for divorce (and the judge illegally prohibited me from appearing in
court, which I also couldn't afford to fight). So even if I had the
couple hundred or couple grand it would take to go back to court and
fight the alimony for that slim chance they'd have given that to me
for the extra $300/mo, it's moot because they already removed that
award.

If I could take out a loan (which I can't) then I'd be able to hire an
attorney, yes. Since I can't, it's moot, but thanks for the
suggestion.

People don't seem to understand when I say I don't have money, I don't
mean "I'm so broke, I've only saved up $10k toward my retirement!" ...
I literally have no money -- have not had -- have had negative amounts
of money for 5 years. The only way that I was even able to attend
cf.Objective to speak was by taking on extra contract work (which I'm
still working on, and just barely reaching enough cash now to pay my
rent for the upcoming month).
