Iirc the last time she looked into disability the story was "if you can get some medical tests you can't afford to pay for, maybe in 8 months there'll be a slim chance you can get some compensation, but don't hold your breath, and if you do get it, it's more likely to take 24 months". At least that's what I recall. Her back goes out once in a while around the apartment -- not too often, but then she doesn't do a lot of heavy lifting here. When it does she can't move. She ends up just bent over at a 90' angle, unable to move at all. Before I met her, once upon a time she was able to see a Dr. about it who wanted her to have bone-fusion surgery, but she wasn't able to get that.
