But it's not like anyone's proposing completely closing the borders, and you're right we can't physically patrol every single inch of every border.
There are technological options, and better use of manpower, we can do a much better job than what we do. The thought of trying to prosecute 11,000,000 illegals is just not practical. But after a one shot "amnesty" I think that number would be significantly reduced. We have methods for gaining entrance to this country, these methods need to be enforced, if you attempt to enter illegally, than you should be dealt with, at least be returned (forcibly if necessary) from where you came.
