The problem I have is not even with the Bush Administration in this
case. I expect politicians to lie, cheat and steal. It seems to be
part of the job description. And they lie and cheat more the longer
they have been in office. Fortunately, they don't seem to get any
better at it over time. They seem to get worse at it, as their
contempt for the truth and the electorate overtake their ability to
mask it.

What burns my butt is all the holier-than-thou people who decried
President Clinton and his administration for the "lies", and now are
giving the Bush Administration a pass for EXACTLY the same behavior.
Where is their outrage? Their cries of "Impeach"? I guess the parsing
of words to mislead the American people is only wrong when a Democrat
does it?

What is still worse to me is that the Bush Administration set
themselves up as MORE truthful, and above such parsing of meaning and
manipulation of the truth. This was their platform. Restoring honor
and trust to the Presidency and the Government. Where is that
commitment at the moment?

If they were truly above board and stand-up guys, they would have
gotten out front of this at the beginning, and said "Yeah, we did it.
And we still think it was the right thing", or "Yeah, we did it. We
shouldn't have, and the persons who did it have been disciplined. No
pudding for them for a whole month!"

But not only hasn't this happened, but it looks like they (the
administration) even went so far as to lie to a grand jury about it.
