Payback for the free ride they had for the previous 18+ years in my eyes.

There isn't a better place in the world they could have been born.

BTW, this is all a stupid argument. The draft is built into the
constitution. The founders were clear that they thought military/militia
service was a requirement of being a citizen. It's actually only a very
recent (since Vietnam) idea that you shouldn't be required.

Read back to my previous post. The one in which I explained why you may as
well put the helmet on the kid in the delivery room. A child has no control
over where they are born or on where they live until they are out of
high-school. They are stuck with whatever they are given. So if you mandate
conscription for my children when they graduate high-school, then you may as
well have enlisted them in your army at birth. You can talk about the
responsibility of a citizen as much as you want, but our government is based
on concepts of freedom which are contrary to this idea that it's somehow
okay to decide that a new-born infant has some patriotic duty to his country
upon birth.
The child didn't choose where to be born, and the child didn't choose where
to live. As such the child should not be forced to pay (any more than they
already will) for the sins of a previous generation.
