Heh, know what you mean. The house we bought had this red marbled carpet in the living room/dining room downstairs, up the stairs and in every room but the bathroom upstairs. It was good carpet when it was installed in the mid-60's. We pulled the carpet downstairs and found a hardwood floor that was half-stained (the other half is untreated hardwood). The stairs going up are hardwood as well, though there are about 7-8 coats of paint on them. Upstairs is just sub floor under the carpet, no pulling it up there! If you have an older house you might pull up a small section that is easily hidden and see what's underneath. You never know. Then again, my house was built in 1837, remodelled in 1943 and again in 1968. We're looking at putting on an addition or two as well. Good luck! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:204834 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
