Total of 3,200 users. Of course, not all on at the same time. Simultaneous users would probably be around 500 employees/faculty and a couple hundred students.
We have 20Mb "internet" bandwidth. Internally, we have 1Gb fiber running between all buildings (academic and residence halls). Our Cisco lease, for our core, is running out and we are going to lease 10Gb devices next. We will still keep 1Gb between most buildings, but a few of them, such as the library that houses our servers, and the academic buildings that host vid-conf, will be upgraded to 10Gb. Our campus is pretty small; the equivalent of two city blocks. Our res halls share our internet bandwidth with the academic buildings. We are also running VoIP on the same network in different subnets. Phone quality is excellent and data throughput is not affected to any discernable degree. Almost every institution of higher education in the Netherlands is on 1 Gbps, those that have a ResNet have a separate 1 Gbps link for that or are on 10 Gbps.
