It was my experience that students didn't talk much about religion, especially in our school.
At my high school people were very tolerant with one another, people who were devout Christians were good friends with devout Muslims. "Jocks" got along with geeks. There was never a problem with ridicule or harassment between students. There were fights over money, drugs, people, etc. But that was about it.
