Were there only too people in your school, a devout Christian jock and a devout Muslim geek? In my high school, 20 odd years ago, we had mixed religions. I went to Hebrew High (Bellaire High School in Houston). Near Meyerland. In fact, I live in Meyerpark now. Many of my friends were and are Jewish, including a girl friend. Sometimes you could just "feel" the difference. The groups did have different things happening. I was Catholic. Many of us would meet at a friends and do social stuff. But none of the Jewish friends were there. Vice versa. I wonder, how would that have gone done if there was prayer in the class? There wasn't. I think it would have been uncomfortable all around. We were allowed to discuss our beliefs, but in a non-teaching way, almost Socractic in one case I remember.
I am interested in religions and the beliefs of others, hence my participation in this thread. But I do not want to have to listen to it in a public place and have to "leave" when they are praying out loud. That is arrogant and inconsiderate.
