There were some neat demos.... but most were just "more of the same" (lots
more characters on screen, lots more effects, etc). That's the way it
always is with new tech.

There were some that struck me tho' - especially the EyeToy demo. They
showed a collectable card game where each card had a code (probably some
kind of bar code) that the EyeToy could see.

You'd lay a card on the table and the EyeToy would show it on the screen -
then the PS3 would create an animated monster represented by the card
hovering over it. Move the card and the monster stays over it - place two
cards next to each other and the monsters would fight in real time.

REALLY slick. ;^)

There was a nice demo showing the PSP used as a "rear view mirror" in a
racing game as well. Not, I think, compelling in and of itself, but it did
show a PS3 game streaming high quality, dynamic video wirelessly to a PSP.

The President of Insomniac also demonstrated controlling the plane in
"Warhawk" using only the motion sensitivity of the new controller. Looked
pretty good but it's of course hard to tell if it'll really fly (pun noted
and intended).

All told the innovation seems to me all up in Sony and Nintendo's camp this
time out.
