Not in the part of the south where I played country music. Shrub's base is not older, rural southerners, it's upper-middle class white boys born during the Reagan administration. They mostly listen to talk radio, and their music is overwhelmingly Top 40 or 70s-80s Pop.
Of the country artists, even Toby Keith, who got into a public feud with the Chicks because one of them referred to his song as stupid, has backed down from his public support for the war, which was really only support for the troops. Most rural southerners that I know rabidly hate both Shrub and country radio, the former for what he has done to the economic and privacy rights, the later because they won't play Merle Haggard or George Jones.
