Thanks Deanna, and everyone. It's odd how close some of us can become to our pets - Annie was basically like a child to us so there's a lot of guilt there in not realizing she was sick. After having spoken with Scottie Rescues all over the country I've learned a few things: (1.) The AKC sucks ass. They are essentially complicit in puppy mills and will forge lineage documents for prize winners. They are a disgrace. (2.) The USDA sucks ass worse. They regulate Rescues more than they do puppy mills. You can be a drunk hick that keeps animals 24 hours a day in cages without enough room to turn around and barely enough food to live and you're ok. But if a Resuce places a dog in an adoption home without all of the necessary paperwork, checks, etc the law is coming down hard. What a pile of crap.
