Gruss, that's awesome... I think we may be getting involved with either the
local Pyrenees or greyhound rescue, sooner than later.

Subject: Scottie Update

We decided to save some Scotties and it turns out that Missouri is the
puppy mill capital of the US. There are tons of dogs of all sorts to
rescue down there so, if you need one, use petfinder.com - there are
thousands of all shapes, sizes, breeds, and ages including puppies.

We rented a Suzuki Grand Vitara (I was impressed, although it was
underpowered, but it was good) to drive from Minneapolis to Kansas
City to rescue the dogs. We took back 2, and then we convinced a
friend and my Mom to each take one as well - but the trick was that we
had to pick them up.

So we drove all the way back from KC yesterday with 4 Scotties running
around the back; it was pretty crazy, but all Scotties are now getting
used to their new homes. Most of them have only lived in 4'x4' cages
so they don't know what to do with the freedom. They are beautiful
pure-bred Scotties!

The rescue lady was on her way this morning to pick up 30 dogs that a
"breeder" hadn't sold so he was going to have them put down. These
are new pure bred puppies! If you want a dog, get a rescue.

KC Notes
--------------
* We stayed at the Hilton President Hotel in downtown KC. What a
great place and great location! It's a restored turn of the 20th
century building and you easily feel like it's the 20s. 4 presidents
have stayed there and the last person to use the 12th floor Suite was
Bon Jovi. Luckily I made friends ($20) with the Valet/Bellman and he
gave us a private tour of the Ballroom, Aztec Room, and Presidential
Suite. Pretty swanky! The suite has secret hallways to the Ballroom
so that the VIPs can sneak away if their event no longer needs them.

* The Valet was also kind enough to shuttle us around KC barbeque
joints and, if you like such things, oh man. We went to Jack Stack's,
but ended up eating at Arthur Bryants which is awesome! It has a
diner feel and you can see the meat roasting behind the counter. If
you and get a "sandwich" just get one for each person - they're
frickin' huge!

* It's hard to believe KC is big enough for 2 pro sports teams.

* The KC hospitality from everyone was fantastic!

* There's definitely a Bible Belt feel.
