I don't think the Iranians do - I think they smell MacArthur in Korea. The US may have air superiority, and they have have superior ground troops (given they can maintain supply lines), but we're not strong enough to face a billion soldiers. Which is exactly what will happen if someone in the Middle East can unite Muslims and turn them against whoever is with the US. And Iran also knows that Bush has ensured that if there is a broader war, the US will stand mostly alone. And, even within the US, the warring faction may stand alone. In short, Iran sees an unprecedented weakened US, one that can be isolated and defeated, if they can unite Muslims. Let's tie in the MMA thread: Iran has discovered the power of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and has seen that the US's military might can be neutralized if Iran can take us to the ground (cities) and then use the correct application of political force.
