Yeah, I think the lenses in the Nikon kit are better, the fstop is better.
The glass is probably about the same.

I'm not really familiar to the Canon Lens mount; however almost any Lens
with a Nikon mount will work with that camera. There are a few that may not
work great in Automatic mode because the light metering is off, however they
are usually older lenses.

I am using some of the same lenses from my N90s for my digital line. My next

I've also been very happy with the Sigma Pro Lenses; fairly inexpensive, but
high quality.

Any lens that you buy that has been made in the past 3 years should work
great with the D70s.
