Far be it from me to impede your admiration. But as to the US, come on. We are seriously debating whether the head of the country is going to obey the rule of law, and you don't think the civil institutions are eroding?
As for the economy, hehe, well, we are kind of a third world over here, but we're in pretty much the same shape as the rest of the country, just more so. More uninsured, lower average wages, etc. Which is not to say that everyone is poor. There is actually an interesting little community of film types and knowledge workers starting here.
