I question that. The poverty is actually quite localized, and if it weren't
for some punitive World Bank decisions the place might actually do quite
well... I certainly found it quite an interesting and surprisingly affluent
place once you get away from the border, which the mexicans call el poso del
mundo.

I just know somoene is supposed to ask, so : I was there about two years ago
and spent almost two months there, in Guanajato, Veracruz, Oaxaca and a
little village on the Pacific Coast.
